Leeds Metropolitan University and ICEP Europe

In association with The Institute of Child Education and Psychology Europe (ICEP Europe), Leeds Metropolitan University offers a suite of online modules for those working with children and young people who have Special Educational Needs, leading to the award of:

  • Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE) in Special Educational Needs at Level 4 (for those with no prior credits at Level 5 or 6).
  • Advanced Diploma in Special Educational Needs at Level 6 (for those with prior credits at Level 5 or 6).

The programme is equally relevant for teachers (including SENCos), Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) as well as other professionals (e.g. educational psychologists, social care workers). 

Each module will be accredited by Leeds Metropolitan University (20 Credits).

Programme Modules

The following modules are available:

  • Autism
  • Dyslexia
  • Social Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties
  • ADHD
  • Inclusive Education and Collaborative Practice
  • Learning Difficulties and Disabilities*

*Available from January 2014

 

In order to achieve the Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE) in Special Educational Needs, 6 modules must be completed at Level 4.

In order to achieve the Advanced Diploma in Special Educational Needs, 3 modules must be completed at Level 6.

You can customise your own programme by choosing which combination of modules you take, and in what order. The online delivery and modular structure gives you the flexibility to study when and where it suits and offers access to quality, affordable and specialist training regardless of location.

Tuition and Support

  • Each module is taught over a period of 8 weeks
  • Each module will be taught online as a distance learning module, and you will have the opportunity to interact with peers in online class discussions
  • Specialised tutors working in the area of learning disabilities will provide you with individual support and guidance as you complete your studies online
  • Technical support is provided by a dedicated team of qualified learning technologists, who can be contacted by telephone or email

Application 

Completed applications should be submitted to Leeds Metropolitan University. We are currently accepting applications for the September 2013 intake. Application forms are available for download in the side bar at the top right of this page.

Costs

Cost per module is £666, payable upon registration to Leeds Metropolitan University. Fees are the same for EU and non EU students.

Fees are payable per module, on a "pay as you go" basis.

Payment plans can also be put in place for students by Leeds Metropolitan University.
